According to CoinMeta, Walmart’s quarterly sales reported on Thursday exceeded Wall Street’s expectations, and the company raised its full-year performance outlook, benefiting from strong e-commerce growth and tariff refunds. Walmart’s Chief Financial Officer, John David Rainey, stated, “Our business has performed strongly, and we are very satisfied with the progress we have made.” The retailer reported that revenue in the second fiscal quarter increased by 5.9% year-over-year, with global e-commerce sales growing by 23%. Walmart also noted that comparable sales in the U.S. increased by 2.6%, but its health and wellness business faced 0.8% pressure due to the implementation of price caps on certain medications. For the third quarter, Walmart expects net sales to grow by 3% to 3.75%, with adjusted earnings per share ranging between 62 cents and 64 cents. The retailer forecasts that full-year net sales will increase by 4% to 5%, up from its previous estimate of 3.5% to 4.5%. Rainey said that Walmart is eligible for approximately $2.9 billion in tariff refunds, with less than $100 million of that amount yet to be received. Rainey mentioned that the company plans to use these funds to lower consumer prices, and expects this impact to be seen in the third quarter.
