According to CoinMeta, CFTC announced that it has resolved cases against Caroline Ellison and Gary Wang in the U.S. Federal Court, imposing a five-year trading ban on each of them and a maximum ten-year registration ban. According to a statement from CFTC, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York has signed supplementary consent orders against both individuals; Ellison is prohibited from trading for five years and may not register for ten years, while Wang faces a five-year trading ban and an eight-year registration ban. Both individuals are required to continue to cooperate with regulatory authorities, and CFTC is not currently seeking compensation or fines for them. Ellison and Wang pleaded guilty to multiple federal charges in December 2022, including conspiracy to commit fraud in commodities.
