Strategy responds to MSCI's plan to eliminate Bitcoin treasury companies
2026-08-20 08:00:31
According to CoinMeta, during the investor Q&A session in the second quarter of 2026, Strategy CEO Phong Le responded to the proposal by MSCI to remove the Bitcoin treasury company from the index. He stated that even if the company is ultimately removed, the shares related to the MSCI index account for only about 3% to 4% of the company's outstanding shares, which may indeed bring some short-term selling pressure, but the impact is limited. At the same time, he believes that this adjustment is not in line with the directions of SEC, FASB, and the current accounting practices. Strategy will submit another formal response to MSCI, hoping that they will not proceed with the latest rule adjustment in the end.
