Nasdaq Launches 23-Hour Trading, Imitating the Crypto Market
2026-08-19 03:17:25
According to CoinMeta, NASDAQ announced that it will launch 24-hour trading on December 6, 2026, with the aim of keeping up with global stock demand and competing in the crypto market. The exchange plans to trade 23 hours a day, five days a week, with the current traditional trading hours being from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time. NASDAQ's proposal has been approved by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and they are now working on updating their securities information processing system. This move is in response to the shift of retail investors towards a 24/7 digital market. NASDAQ's competitor, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), has also applied for a 24/7 tokenized trading venue.
