Bitcoin miners are making profits in the field of artificial intelligence, but Bitcoin mining may be on its way back
2026-08-18 22:43:56
According to CoinMeta, Bitcoin miners' investments in the fields of artificial intelligence and high-performance computing are considered one of the better capital allocation decisions in a decade. Although this shift has been ongoing for several years, miners' profit margins have been affected after a 45% price decline. With the surge in demand for AI and the decline in demand for Bitcoin, there has been a clear divergence in stock market performance between companies that obtained HPC contracts and those that focused on Bitcoin mining. Early adopters such as Terrawulf, Iren, and Cipher Digital have seen their stock prices double over the past year, while the stock price of Mara Holdings, which lagged behind in transitioning to AI, has fallen by 40%.
