Institution: UK employment data helps the Bank of England maintain interest rates unchanged
2026-08-18 20:30:36
According to CoinMeta, Rob Wood, a macro analyst at Pantheon, pointed out in a report that the latest UK employment market data will make the Bank of England’s policymakers inclined to keep interest rates unchanged. He stated, “The employment situation is slightly weaker than expected, indicating that the labor market is still slowing down, but currently only very slowly.” Wood noted that wage growth is within a reasonable range that aligns with inflation targets, but it may not slow further and could even accelerate slightly in the coming months. He also mentioned that the year-on-year increase in wages after deducting bonuses in the private sector was 4.8%, the largest monthly increase since December last year.
