Alphabet Launches Australian Dollar Bond Issuance
2026-08-18 08:16:23
According to CoinMeta, Google's parent company Alphabet is offering Australian dollar bonds with four different maturities, one of which lasts for 20 years. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that Google's financing plan aims to raise approximately 5 billion Australian dollars (about 3.6 billion US dollars). Last month, Alphabet raised its capital expenditure forecast for this year to as high as 205 billion US dollars, once again sparking concerns among the market about how large tech companies will recoup profits from their billions of dollars invested in artificial intelligence. To date, among large companies in the United States, Alphabet is second only to Amazon in leveraging the global debt market to finance artificial intelligence projects. In addition, Alphabet also plans to issue bonds in currencies such as the Swiss franc, British pound, euro, Canadian dollar, and Japanese yen in 2026.
