Chainalysis Sues the U.S. Government, Challenging the Contract with TRM Labs
2026-08-18 01:00:52
According to CoinMeta, Chainalysis filed a lawsuit with the U.S. Federal Claims Court on July 27, challenging the decision by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to directly award a $94.6 million contract to TRM Labs. Chainalysis pointed out that the contract was awarded without a proper competitive bidding process and involved one-year blockchain forensics software and support services. The contract, which commenced on July 1, 2026, and will end on June 30, 2027, is intended to support investigations by the Homeland Security Task Force. Chainalysis believes that ICE did not follow the normal competitive procurement procedures and has requested the court to stop this arrangement. This case may affect the way federal agencies procure blockchain investigation software and could have a broader impact on the competition between the two companies in government business.
