According to CoinMeta, pirated copies of the movie "Odyssey" are distributing malware. These files, disguised as high-quality movie downloads, put users' wallets, passwords, and browser sessions at risk. On August 6, researchers reported the discovery of malicious executable files that were designed to resemble pirated versions of "Odyssey" and began spreading just a few days after the movie's release. This malware is capable of stealing passwords, browser cookies, and encrypted wallet data. Experts warn that the stolen information could allow attackers to take control of active account sessions, even if victims have enabled multi-factor authentication. This malware is a type of information-stealing Trojan that originates from Russia and is sold as a service to other criminals. Additionally, connections to command-and-control infrastructure related to this malware were identified, along with multiple blocked domain names.
