According to CoinMeta, as crude oil prices rose, Brent crude oil futures temporarily increased by 1% to $89.40 per barrel, while WTI crude oil rose to $82.83 per barrel. Concerns about Middle Eastern supply have intensified due to reduced transportation through the Strait of Hormuz. According to Reuters' ship tracking data, only five cargo vessels passed through the strait on Saturday, compared to 31 last weekend. U.S. commercial crude oil inventories surged by 17.4 million barrels in the week ending August 7, reaching 424.4 million barrels, the largest weekly increase since January 2023. OPEC has lowered its global oil demand growth forecast for 2026 to 580,000 barrels per day, and the International Energy Agency expects demand to shrink this year.
