According to CoinMeta, as the EU's final transition period ended on July 1st, scams related to MiCA continued to rise. Over 1,000 unauthorized crypto asset services were forced to switch to licensed companies or self-hosted wallets. In a statement in June, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) requested that unauthorized providers stop accepting new customers and limit their activities to facilitate an orderly exit. Regulators also reminded customers to check whether the providers were listed in the official MiCA registry before transferring assets. European regulators warned that scammers were taking advantage of this legitimate migration information to impersonate regulatory authorities and licensed exchanges, directing users to fake websites, wallets, or platforms.
