Japanese 10-year government bond yield rises to 2.93%, hitting a 30-year high

According to CoinMeta, due to fiscal concerns combined with expectations of interest rate hikes, and influenced by market speculation about the Bank of Japan's possible interest rate increases in the coming months, the yield on Japan's 10-year government bonds rose by 5.5 basis points to 2.93%, reaching the highest level since 1996. The yield on 30-year bonds also increased by 5 basis points to 4.06%, approaching the historical high set in May this year. Sources familiar with the matter stated that Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga's government supports the Bank of Japan's recent decision to raise interest rates, with the next hike possibly occurring in September or October. Additionally, as the government has not yet clarified how it will fund its plan to cut the food consumption tax over two years, fiscal concerns are also putting pressure on the market.
