According to CoinMeta, and as reported by the Financial Times, Kiev's air defense forces were nearly helpless in the face of a recent round of ballistic missile attacks from Russia. The reason is simple: their Patriot missile interception systems no longer had any missiles available for interception. This severe shortage of the only weapon capable of intercepting Russian ballistic missiles launched at Ukraine exposes a critical flaw in Ukraine's air defense system. As Moscow intensifies its offensive before winter arrives, the pressure on Ukraine's air defense has further increased. Ukrainian officials stated that the small number of interceptor missiles provided by the United States in recent weeks have been completely depleted. On August 5th, Russia launched a missile attack on Kiev, and three days later, a second round of attacks followed. In both instances, Ukraine was unable to intercept any of the incoming ballistic missiles. Ukrainian officials revealed that due to the increasingly serious shortage of interceptor missiles, the Ukrainian Air Force no longer routinely announces the number of missiles launched by Russia in order to avoid revealing the number of missiles that could not be intercepted.
