Tata Chairman Resigns Unexpectedly, JLR and Chips, iPhone, Indian Airlines Investments Face Risks

According to CoinMeta, N. Chandrasekaran, the chairman of Tata Group, announced that he would not seek re-election, which has led to uncertainty regarding India's first semiconductor factory and its investments in fields such as chips, iPhone, and Indian Airlines. During Chandrasekaran's tenure, Tata Group made significant capital commitments with the aim of pushing India to become a developed country by 2047. Tata Group also acquired Indian Airlines in 2022 and began producing iPhone after acquiring Wistron and Pegatron, becoming India's largest supplier to Apple. In 2024, Tata Group plans to collaborate with a Taiwanese Powerchip semiconductor manufacturing company, investing $11 billion to establish India's first semiconductor factory. Although these initiatives have not yet been profitable during the early investment phase, Chandrasekaran's resignation, against the backdrop of Tata Consultancy Services facing the impact of artificial intelligence, has raised doubts about Tata Group's long-term investment commitments.
