According to CoinMeta, a Chinese company has launched robots that can roll, attracting the attention of retail investors. The company went public in the STAR market in Shanghai, with a IPO price of 150.8 yuan (about $22.4), raising 900 million US dollars and reaching a market value of 61 billion yuan (about $9 billion). Although investors were full of expectations for their first-day trading, the market doubted whether these robots could go beyond simple running and rolling to perform truly useful tasks. The IPO of this company attracted strategic investors, including AI startup DeepSeek. In its prospectus, the company stated that the progress of large-scale commercial applications of these robots may be slower than expected due to the immaturity of its technology. Analysts pointed out that although the revenue of Unitree quadrupled last year, its adjusted profit in the first quarter decreased by more than 52%.
