According to CoinMeta, the average 30-year mortgage rate in the United States has dropped to 6.67%, down from 6.69% last week and 6.58% during the same period last year. Mortgage rates are primarily driven by mortgage-backed securities and are related to fluctuations in long-term Treasury yields. Last Thursday, the yield on 10-year Treasuries was 4.676%, and it is currently at 4.643%, down from a high of 4.71% on Monday. As the data for CPI and PPI fell short of expectations, inflationary pressures have eased, leading to a decline in Treasury yields. If the rebound in the bond market continues, 30-year mortgage rates are expected to fall further. The average rate for 15-year fixed-rate mortgages is 5.96%, down from 6.01% last week and 5.71% during the same period last year. At the same time, the average price of gasoline in the United States has risen to $4.07, up from $3.87 a month ago and $3.15 last year.
