Chip stock yields are all below 1%, analysis of capital flow
2026-08-13 21:42:40
According to CoinMeta, major chip companies such as NVIDIA have a yield of 0.45%, Broadcom ( Broadcom ) of 0.61%, Taiwan Semiconductor ( TSMC ) of 0.66%, and Applied Materials ( Applied Materials ) of 0.39%. Despite these companies being highly profitable in the technology market, the returns for income investors are virtually negligible. In May 2023, NVIDIA increased its quarterly dividend from $0.01 per share to $0.25, but even so, its yield remains insignificant given that the company's market value has reached approximately $5.4 trillion. NVIDIA returned about $20 billion to shareholders in the most recent quarter, almost entirely through stock repurchases. Broadcom paid out about $3.1 billion in dividends to shareholders in the second quarter of its 2023 fiscal year. Taiwan Semiconductor increased its capital budget for 2026 to $60 billion to $64 billion, demonstrating its emphasis on factory construction. Applied Materials allocated $765 million in the second quarter, with nearly all of this coming from cash generated by its operations. Although dividends are increasing, the growth rate of stock prices and repurchase budgets is even faster.
