According to CoinMeta, a latest report from the U.S. Treasury Department indicates that the country's debt problem has reached a critical point, with some economists warning that the nation is actually insolvent. Steve Hank, a professor of applied economics at Johns Hopkins University, and David Walker, former U.S. Comptroller General, pointed out in a comment for Fortune magazine that "it is not an exaggeration to say that the U.S. government is insolvent." As of September 30, 2025, the federal government's total assets amounted to 6.06 trillion dollars, while its liabilities exceeded 47.78 trillion dollars. Experts believe that the deterioration of the fiscal situation could lead to a "fiscal disaster." Nevertheless, economist Ray Dalio stated that the United States will not experience a complete default, and the central bank will intervene by printing money to meet its debt obligations.
