Google reorganizes departments to fully develop Gemini

According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Reuters, Google's parent company Alphabet is undergoing large-scale leadership adjustments within Google DeepMind. Some teams will be transferred from DeepMind into Google's corporate structure, further weakening the autonomy of DeepMind. Google co-founder Sergey Brin has been urging core AI employees to "commit fully" to the Gemini model in recent months and has promoted research and development in areas such as "recursive self-improvement." Following these adjustments, Demis Hassabis, who previously led DeepMind, will take on the role of chairman, with his deputy, Coray Karakucuoglu, assuming leadership responsibilities. Google stated that Karakucuoglu will have the final decision-making power over major DeepMind decisions. Since internal tests have shown that the new version of the Gemini flagship model still lags behind competitors in areas such as programming, Google has postponed its release by two months. Analysts believe that this reorganization is aimed at accelerating the commercialization of AI and regaining a competitive advantage in models, but some employees are concerned that the long-term autonomy of DeepMind in research may further decline.
