Trump considers lowering capital gains tax, which could benefit Bitcoin holders

According to CoinMeta, U.S. President Donald Trump is considering reducing the capital gains tax, a move that could allow investors, including those holding cryptocurrencies, to keep more of their profits when selling appreciated assets. Trump plans to call on Congress to link capital gains to inflation and to expand tax exemptions for certain home sales. Larry Kudlow, former director of the National Economic Council, said he recently discussed the issue of indexing capital gains with Trump. Trump expressed "great interest" in this idea and hopes to increase the exemption amount for home sales, potentially exempting home sales worth up to $2 million from the capital gains tax. Although no formal proposals have been made yet, most changes to federal tax law require Congressional approval.
