According to CoinMeta, on August 12, the Harmony team stated that due to a suspected security incident on their layer-1 network, they were cooperating with cryptocurrency exchanges to stop and freeze funds. The team also mentioned that they were developing a patch and evaluating rollback options. On-chain analyst Juiceberg reported an “unauthorized minting of 400 million ONE.” This analyst noted that approximately 2.8 billion ONE were quickly transferred to exchanges, and it is estimated that around 115 million could still be sold on the chain. Harmony has not independently confirmed these figures, so these amounts remain estimates by the analysts. A statement from Harmony stated that the team is coordinating with exchanges, preparing a patch, and considering rollback options, but no timeline was provided. After the news of the minting incident spread, the ONE token price plummeted significantly, currently at around $0.00083, a decrease of about 32% within 24 hours.
