According to CoinMeta, Tencent is working together with the management of HSG, ZhenGe Fund, and Manus to buy back Manus from Meta. The acquisition price is estimated to be around $2 billion, which is close to the initial purchase price of Meta. Once the transaction is completed, Tencent is expected to become the largest shareholder of Manus, but its shareholding will not exceed 50%. Manus will continue to operate independently and will not be merged into Tencent. In December last year, Meta acquired Manus for about $2 billion, but subsequently, Chinese regulatory authorities required the cancellation of the transaction, prompting both parties to seek new solutions for taking over the company. Manus announced that it would resume independent operations, and users in certain regions were required to back up their data before August 23rd. No fees will be charged during the backup period, and access to Manus will be unavailable from August 23rd to 24th. Officials emphasized that this is not a security incident but rather part of the process to separate from Meta and meet the regulatory requirements of some regions.
