Indian rupee weakens due to rising oil prices, central bank intervention becomes a focus
2026-08-11 11:20:18
According to CoinMeta, the Indian rupee is expected to weaken at the opening on Tuesday, under the pressure of rising oil prices, especially against the backdrop of stalled peace negotiations between the United States and Iran. Traders anticipate the rupee to open in the range of 95.35 to 95.40, having closed at 95.30 on Monday. Due to ongoing demand for the US dollar, the rupee is under pressure, although interventions by the Indian central bank have helped limit its losses. Analysts point out that without the support of the central bank, the rupee could have already fallen below 95.50. The rise in oil prices and the increase in the yield on US 10-year Treasury bonds have further increased the pressure on the rupee, highlighting its high dependence on central bank intervention.
