According to CoinMeta, the South Korean government plans to enact a special law by the end of the year to support three major “super projects” aimed at enhancing South Korea’s competitiveness in the fields of semiconductors, AI, and AI data centers. President’s Chief of Staff Kang Hoon - sik stated during a briefing on Monday that efforts will be made to enact a “Super Special Zone Special Law” within this year to streamline approval processes and environmental impact assessments, and to rapidly establish infrastructure such as electricity, water supply, transportation, as well as residential and educational facilities. Kang mentioned that the government plans to complete the relocation and temporary dispersion of military facilities in the second half of 2028, so that the military airport site can be utilized for a semiconductor industrial park as soon as possible. In addition to the 8.3 million square meters currently designated as candidates for national industrial parks, the government will also consider designating more nearby plots of land after assessing the needs of enterprises. Furthermore, the government will develop plans to utilize recycled water and nearby dams to ensure a stable water supply, as well as measures to guarantee sufficient power supply. The government plans to conduct consultations with the United States regarding issues related to American facilities at Gwangju Military Airport, and relevant officials said that the U.S. has so far responded positively.
