According to CoinMeta, Ethereum developers have proposed to gradually reduce the number of validators as the amount of Ether pledged reaches 50%, thereby reducing net rewards to zero. Founder Stani Kulechov warns that this plan could weaken institutional demand, decentralized finance (DeFi) activities, and Ethereum's competitiveness. He points out that a 50% pledge cap could diminish the demand for Ethereum.
