Galaxy: Ethereum and Solana may reconsider their inflation models
2026-08-09 19:54:59
According to CoinMeta, Vice President Lucas Tcheyan stated that Ethereum and Solana are facing similar policy issues: how many tokens need to be issued to cover network security costs, and when does the cost of the security budget exceed its utility? Currently, the inflation change proposals for both chains have not yet been approved. Ethereum's proposal number has been changed from EIP-8361 to EIP-8363 as EIP-8361 has already been allocated. EIP-8363 proposes to gradually burn the shares of consensus layer validator rewards as the Ethereum staking ratio increases. Solana considers two changes: raising the annual inflation rate from 15% to 30%, while SGP-0002 and SGP-0003 respectively ask whether validators and delegators should pursue faster scheduling. Galaxy believes that as the networks mature, both communities are re-evaluating their security costs.
