According to CoinMeta, Nevada Energy, the largest energy supplier in the U.S. state of Nevada, has officially sued a developer who is building data centers in the state, accusing them of attempting to pass on electricity costs to consumers. Nevada Energy supplies power to 90% of the state's users, and it is estimated that the two new data centers will consume nearly one-third of its total power generation. Nevada Energy is demanding that the developer initiate a $1 billion grid upgrade project and warns that if more infrastructure expenses are not borne, electricity prices may increase, with the burden being shifted to ordinary households and businesses. In response, the developer stated that Nevada Energy has failed to fulfill its power supply commitments but yet requires them to invest $1 billion in grid upgrades.
