Joseph Chalom: Opposing the Ethereum EIP-8361 Proposal
2026-08-07 21:16:14
According to CoinMeta, co-founder Joseph Chalom of Sharplink issued a statement opposing Ethereum’s EIP-8361 proposal. He pointed out that this proposal would reduce network staking rewards, weaken the DeFi ecosystem, and cause ETH to lose its native revenue advantage. Chalom believes that Ethereum is currently gaining widespread adoption by institutions, making it an unfavorable timing to introduce such a proposal. Sharplink advocates for achieving ETH scarcity through the existing base fee destruction mechanism and opposes making fundamental adjustments to the protocol’s economic foundation at this stage.
