Kraken Launches Xstocks Voting Mechanism to Address Legal Gaps in Tokenized Equity
2026-08-07 18:03:19
According to CoinMeta, Kraken recently introduced a new mechanism that allows Xstocks token holders to instruct real shareholders to vote through on-chain mechanisms, thereby addressing a governance gap that has been discussed for a long time in the tokenized equity industry but has not been resolved. This mechanism ensures that token holders' voting instructions are followed by updating contract terms, creating contractual obligations based on Jersey law. The launch of Xstocks tokens has enabled Kraken to bring tokenized equity to retail holders in over 110 countries around the world, although initial offerings did not provide full equity ownership. As the platform's total transaction volume exceeds $30 billion, the lack of governance rights is no longer just a footnote in the service terms; it has become a limitation on the types of investors and asset claims.
