According to CoinMeta, Wintermute USA has registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as a brokerage dealer and has joined FINRA, gaining a regulated foothold in the U.S. securities market. The company announced its registration on August 6, stating that its New York subsidiary will focus on proprietary trading and exchange-traded product services. According to The Wall Street Journal, Wintermute is now qualified to seek designated market maker status on the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ. After registration, Wintermute USA will be able to trade traditional stocks and options on its own account, providing liquidity, and act as an authorized participant in exchange-traded products. The unit can also clear digital asset securities transactions. Wintermute emphasizes that the U.S. business focuses on proprietary trading and ETP services, and the registration puts it under the regulation of SEC and compliance with FINRA requirements. CEO Evgeny Gaevoy stated that the company plans to launch in areas such as commodities and digital assets ETF, and may enter the tokenized stock market in the future. Wintermute's global group has a daily average trading volume of over $10 billion and possesses experience in automatic pricing and liquidity provision.
