According to CoinMeta, as reported by nada and news, the Japanese Financial Services Agency (FSA) announced on August 5th that it would implement an organizational restructure on August 7th, officially establishing a new department dedicated to crypto assets and stablecoins called the "Crypto Assets and Stablecoins Section." Previously, these tasks were handled by the Counselor's Office and Monitoring Office under the Comprehensive Policy Bureau. After the restructure, these departments will be incorporated into the newly established Asset Management and Insurance Supervision Bureau, with their status being substantially upgraded to an independent "Section." Under the new "Crypto Assets and Stablecoins Section," there will be a "Crypto Assets Monitoring Office" responsible for supervising crypto asset exchanges, as well as an "Innovation Promotion Office" and a "Digital Payments Planning Office" to address new administrative challenges such as financial digitization and the improvement of regulatory standards.
