Coinbase Chief Policy Officer: Criticism of the clarity Bill is Disappointing

According to CoinMeta, Wu said that Faryar Shirzad, the Chief Policy Officer of Coinbase, issued a statement pointing out that The Wall Street Journal's criticism of the clarity Act was disappointing, as it abandoned serious analysis in favor of defending regulatory barriers and repeating the clichés of banking associations. He noted that the clarity Act imposes multiple restrictions on stablecoin rewards and links them to customer activities. Multiple independent studies, including those by the White House Council of Economic Advisers, indicate that there is no evidence to support the argument of "deposits fleeing." Moreover, stablecoins and bank deposits have been growing in parallel for many years. In addition, he emphasized that the act does not provide shelter for DeFi crimes; rather, it clarifies the distinction between writing code and operating financial intermediaries. Fraud, sanctions, and money laundering violations can still be prosecuted. He called on the Senate to pass the clarity Act.
