According to CoinMeta, and as reported by CoinDesk, Patrick Stephen Amoh ( Patrick Steven Yarmoch ), an agent who worked at the headquarters of a company based in the United States ( FBI ), has been arrested for allegedly stealing over one million dollars in cryptocurrency. He is accused of mining cryptographic keys from the FBI system and transferring funds to his own accounts more than a dozen times, involving accounts related to foreign individuals under his investigation. Before his arrest, Amoh confessed to his colleagues and had a emotional breakdown during a meeting with Department of Justice staff at the FBI headquarters. The investigation revealed that he used accounts from the decentralized finance ( DeFi ) ecosystem of the Kraken and SUI blockchains while handling digital assets. A search of his computer and phone records ( FBI ) uncovered that he had inquired to an AI application about how to become a resident of a European Union country after leaving the United States and planned to travel to Portugal.
