According to CoinMeta, Coinbase has announced that it will migrate the international trading accounts, balances, and open positions of its institutional customers to Deribit on September 9th. It is expected that trading will be suspended for approximately 30 minutes during this transition period. Coinbase has set August 28th as the deadline for customers who do not wish to participate in the migration; accounts that are not closed will be deemed to have accepted the updated terms. This migration will allow Coinbase to further centralize its international derivatives business under Deribit. Coinbase completed the acquisition of Deribit in August 2025, with a transaction amount of about $2.9 billion. Coinbase plans to make the sub-accounts of customers under Deribit read-only on August 31st. Institutional customers should take this time to confirm account mappings, test access, create API credentials, and request any necessary withdrawals or position restrictions.
