According to CoinMeta, Japanese retailer Lawson announced that it will incorporate USDC, USDT, and JPYC into its stablecoin payment pilot, planning to conduct a second round of point-of-sale (POS) tests at two of its stores in Tokyo. The company will carry out the first trial on August 6th at its Takanawa Gateway City store, inviting only participants using Hashport wallets. Subsequently, on August 17th, a second test will be conducted at the Gate City Osaki Atrium store, where participants will use MetaMask for payments. Lawson stated that this pilot is aimed at verifying the connection between its POS system and digital wallets, settlement processes, and payment times, in order to assess whether the technology is suitable for broader deployment. The pilot will also examine daily store operations, including POS integration and settlement procedures. Lawson also plans to conduct another proof-of-concept test in August to continue evaluating the application of stablecoin payments in its stores.
