The Hormuz Crisis Pushes Up Oil Prices; Saudi Aramco’s Q2 Profits Increase by 33%
2026-08-04 13:34:39
According to CoinMeta, Saudi Aramco, the Saudi oil giant, announced a 33% increase in profits for the second quarter. The company's performance benefited from the surge in oil prices triggered by the war, as well as its ability to maintain oil exports through pipelines that bypass the Strait of Hormuz. According to the statement, Saudi Aramco's adjusted net profit increased from $25.2 billion in the same period last year to $33.4 billion, exceeding analysts' expectations of $31.1 billion. Due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which caused the most severe disruption to oil supply in history, the price of Brent crude oil approached $97 per barrel during the second quarter. The company has shifted most of its oil exports to the Red Sea, but it now faces new risks of attacks on oil tankers using this route from the Houthi militants in Yemen.
