According to data from the Brazilian National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP), Brazil's crude oil production in June increased by about 19% year-on-year, reaching 4.5 million barrels per day, a growth of about 4% compared to May. The total production of oil and natural gas reached 5.8 million barrels of oil equivalent per day. The increasing production from Brazil and other producing countries helped to fill the gap left by reduced exports from the Middle East. The state-controlled Brazilian National Petroleum Company (Petrobras) was among the first to increase production; the company is striving to extract as much crude oil as possible from its oil fields and is pushing to exceed the designed capacity of offshore platforms at the Búzios field and other deep-water oil fields. According to ANP data, oil fields operated by Petrobras account for approximately 87% of Brazil's total oil production.
