According to CoinMeta, Wu said that the criminal indictment filed by the U.S. Department of Justice revealed that former FBI supervisor Patrick Steven Yaroch was suspected of using his job authority to retrieve internal information from FBI, obtaining access credentials such as encryption wallet mnemonic phrases related to a hostile country, and transferring funds from these accounts to wallets under his control about 10 times since the end of 2024. Yaroch admitted to stealing less than $1 million in funds, which were mixed with his personal assets, and some of this money was later deposited into Suilend to generate profits. On July 29, he voluntarily disclosed this matter to FBI. On July 31, investigators transferred approximately $925,000 in crypto assets from his Kraken and Slush / Suilend accounts to wallets under U.S. government control; an additional $166,000 in cash remained in his Kraken account as it could not be transferred onto the blockchain. Yaroch was arrested on that same day and charged with transporting and receiving stolen property across states.
