According to CoinMeta, as investors paid attention to signs of a easing in the conflict with Iran, U.S. Treasury yields declined on Monday along with falling oil prices. The yield on 10-year U.S. Treasuries fell by more than 1 basis point to 4.688%. The yield on 2-year Treasuries dropped by 4 basis points to 4.252%, and the yield on 30-year Treasuries fell by more than 4 basis points to 5.226%. Oil prices tumbled on Monday after President Trump claimed that negotiations with Iran would resume, following a pause in U.S. strikes against Iran at the request of Gulf allies. However, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Bahai once again expressed skepticism about direct negotiations with the United States, stating that there are no plans for such talks at present. Last week, the yield on 30-year Treasuries rose to its highest level since 2007, in reaction to the Federal Reserve's "hawkish" stance on interest rate decisions. Some Federal Reserve officials have indicated that they support raising interest rates to help curb inflation.
