According to CoinMeta, Thibault Sottiaux revealed in an interview with Lianxian that during his time working at Google DeepMind, he participated in a chatbot project called LMChat. This project existed about a year before the release of ChatGPT and resembled the later ChatGPT in its form. However, due to the conservatism and bureaucracy of the higher management, the large language model and dialogue technologies held within DeepMind were not launched in a timely manner. Sottiaux pointed out that Google was concerned that this technology would impact existing business, so they ultimately did not dare to release it.
