According to CoinMeta, Pump.fun laid off employees in the weeks before the unlocking of its PUMP tokens, resulting in at least one former employee losing a token allocation worth seven digits. The company reduced its staff at the end of March and the beginning of April due to its rapid expansion. Investigations show that some employees lost their jobs just before the token allocation was to be unlocked and did not receive the unlocked tokens. Pump.fun has not yet made any public response to this. New allegations claim that Baton Corp, behind Pump.fun, carried out another round of layoffs in mid-July, with about 40 employees being fired the day before the tokens were to be unlocked. Despite these allegations, Sandmark stated that it is unable to independently verify this claim. This incident has drawn attention to how crypto companies structure their token allocations.
