JPMorgan Chase, Citibank, and UBS test tokenized cross-border payments
2026-08-01 00:35:35
According to CoinMeta, several major American banks including JPMorgan Chase, Citibank, and UBS have begun testing tokenized cross-border payments, with an average settlement time of 80 seconds per transaction. A total of 28 banks participated in this test, successfully conducting cross-border fund transfers on the blockchain and processing approximately one million US dollars in real transactions involving six currencies: US dollars, euros, British pounds, Japanese yen, Swiss francs, and South Korean won. This prototype demonstrates the combination of tokenized commercial bank deposits with tokenized central bank reserves, enabling atomic settlement across multiple currencies. If implemented, it could facilitate 24/7 transactions.
