According to CoinMeta, the Bank of Japan has maintained its benchmark interest rate at 1% unchanged. Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda sent a relatively hawkish signal, indicating that inflation could rise above 2% in the later part of this fiscal year, and pointed out that strong demand and a weak yen are increasing the pressure for price increases. Since the market had already largely factored in expectations of a rate hike in October, the yen lost some of its gains during the press conference, and remained around 63,900 US dollars. It is believed that a weak yen is conducive to continued yen arbitrage trading flowing into risk assets. Meanwhile, the US Core Personal Consumption Expenditures (CPI) for June, which was also released during the same period, rose by 3.3% year-on-year, slightly lower than May's 3.4%, but it has been above the Federal Reserve's target of 2% for 64 consecutive months.
