According to CoinMeta, Apple is facing a deadline on August 21 from the Senate and is under pressure from two Chinese suppliers for memory chips. Six U.S. senators have urged Apple CEO Tim Cook to abandon plans to purchase memory chips from ChangXin Memory Technology (CXMT) and Yangtze River Memory Technology (YMTC). The senators require Apple to confirm that it will not use components produced by these two suppliers by August 21, including those for devices specifically designed for the Chinese market. Washington has expressed concerns regarding the relationships between these two suppliers and the Chinese government as well as China's defense industry. In June, the U.S. Department of Defense added these two companies to the updated 1260h list, restricting transactions with them. Previously, Apple had considered using flash memory from YMTC in some iPhone, but abandoned that plan due to national security concerns raised by Congress.
