According to CoinMeta, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has issued a proposed rule notice (_NPRM) to solicit public comments on revisions to Sections 37, 38, 39, as well as Articles 1.52 and 1.55 of the CFTC Regulations. The comment period lasts for 60 days after the publication in the Federal Register. This revision is aimed at addressing conflicts of interest arising from increased interconnectedness among regulated entities such as derivatives clearing organizations (DCO), designated contract markets (DCM), swap execution facilities (SEF), futures commission merchants (FCM), and market makers. CFTC Chair Gary Gensler stated that the new rules will establish a principle-based regulatory framework for vertically integrated market structures, supporting innovation in the U.S. derivatives market while maintaining market integrity.
