SEC prepares to establish encryption regulations; South Korea confirms the imposition of an encryption tax in 2027

According to CoinMeta, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) stated that if the Clear Act does not become law, they will be prepared to formulate crypto regulations. Meanwhile, South Korea has confirmed that its long-delayed crypto tax will take effect on January 1, 2027. Vice Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ju Yun-jeok stated that the government will proceed as planned, without further delays. Under the plan, crypto assets with annual earnings exceeding 2.5 million Korean won will face a separate income tax of 20%, and the total local tax rate will reach 22%. Market analyst Joao Wedson shared Bitcoin's performance in past U.S. elections, noting that Bitcoin enters a bear market about a year before each mid-term election and then enters a longer bull market after the elections.
