Luno Cuts 20% of Staff to Cope with Shrinking Crypto Market
2026-07-30 13:47:33
According to CoinMeta, Luno announced that it will lay off approximately 20% of its global staff in response to the shrinking crypto market. CEO James Lanigan confirmed this reorganization plan on July 28, stating that the company will reduce costs and at the same time devote more resources to institutional customer and business-to-business services. Although the exact number of employees affected, as well as the relevant regions and departments, were not disclosed, Lanigan pointed out that automated investments and broader operational changes have altered the resources required for operations. Luno plans to continue investing in compliance, core infrastructure, and select retail products, while also expanding services to other businesses. The company's institutional platform provides liquidity and trading infrastructure for professional clients, and its website currently indicates that it serves 15 million customers worldwide.
