Weak demand for two-year Japanese government bonds compared to the 12-month average
2026-07-30 11:55:06
According to CoinMeta, the market demand for Japan's two-year government bond auction was lower than the 12-month average, with a subscription ratio of 3.63, which is lower than the 4.82 from the previous auction and the 12-month average of 3.81. Signs of weak investor interest also include a spread (bid-ask spread) of 0.007 between the average price and the lowest accepted price, compared to 0.005 last month. Recent tensions in the Middle East have led to rising oil prices, exacerbating concerns about fuel inflation, and short-term yields on Japanese government bonds have increased. Currently, the yield for two-year bonds has risen to 1.47%, approaching the high of 1.52% at the beginning of this month. This further increases the pressure on the Bank of Japan to raise interest rates.
