According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Ariel Givner, a lawyer specializing in intellectual property and corporate law in the fintech sector, the U.S. government has filed a civil forfeiture lawsuit seeking to seize approximately 2.118 million USDT from the Ethereum address 0xf322… e97e. The government alleges that these funds are suspected of originating from a fraudulent crypto investment scheme known as a “pig-slaughtering scam” in Southeast Asia. Investigators indicate that at least 13 victims were led to a fake trading platform through WhatsApp and continued to transfer funds there or into cash. The funds were then laundered through multiple transfers. After the Secret Service, FBI, and the Memphis Virtual Currency Working Group tracked 76 intermediate addresses, the flow of funds was traced back to this wallet. If the court supports the government's claims, the relevant USDT will be confiscated and become property of the U.S. government.
