Societe Generale: Inflation data grants Walsh a “wait-and-see pass”
2026-07-30 02:33:03
According to CoinMeta, an economist from BNP Paribas, Christopher Hodge, stated that the latest inflation data and labor market figures provide the Federal Reserve with some breathing room. Waiting for clearer signals will not damage its credibility. He pointed out that raising interest rates would only make the Fed's response mechanism more chaotic and could send out overly hawkish signals. Hodge expects that Powell will continue to closely monitor inflation, but at the same time, he also acknowledges that recent modest inflation data may indicate that the current policy stance is appropriate. If that is not the case, the Federal Reserve is prepared to curb any price pressures at any time.
